Doing our bit through COVID-19

6th May 2020
While the Insite Energy team remains fully operational during the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve been inspired to hear what some of our family members have been doing outside of working hours to help others. We’re really proud of the action our colleagues have taken to  help their fellow humans in these demanding times. We thought we’d introduce you to some of them:

No sooner had the Government announced its NHS Volunteer Responders scheme, than our Customer Service Manager, Carly had downloaded the NHS app and signed up, to make herself available to help out at weekends.

As a result of Coronavirus, blood donations from the public have been down this spring. Project Manager, Ellie, gives blood every quarter at the Resource for London Centre on Holloway Road. “I nearly cancelled my regular appointment thinking it wouldn’t count as an essential trip, but then I  saw the call to keep donating, and seeing as I am fit and healthy, I wanted to help where others may feel less comfortable going out into a communal setting. This was my eleventh time,” says Ellie.

Giving blood is also important to our Management Accountant Amy, who has made sure she can continue donating in St Ives, Cambridgeshire, despite some juggling of appointment dates during the lockdown. “I started when my (now late) brother-in-law was put on the organ transplant list and I saw donating blood as a way of helping.”

Michelle, our Credit Controller, jumped at the chance to put her name down for volunteering work in her village, near Stamford. She’s given her time and access to a vehicle to do things such as help to find and deliver household items for elderly folks who were struggling to source them from local supermarkets. She is also part of a buddying system. “Some of our elderly in the village have been too proud to ask for help but the duration of lockdown means there is now an increasing call for some company and a friendly voice,” she says.
Like many families across the UK, our junior members are putting smiles on the faces of passers-by by creating colourful rainbows and putting them in their windows. Matilda, the four-year-old daughter of our MD, Ant, has shared her rainbow with us, and it certainly has the desired effect!

We send our thoughts and best wishes to all our customers and partners who are doing their bit at the moment, whether that’s the big stuff as part of your job or something as simple as keeping spirits up at home.
